Triennale Design Museum presents Independent. Design secession, an exhibition of selected works by Andrea Branzi, Sergio Cappelli and Patrizia Ranzo, Michele De Lucchi, Giulio Iacchetti, Lapo Lani, Michelangelo Pistoletto, embodying a new, distinctive category of design culture that is totally unrelated to commissions or technology. It responds to the subjective need of some designers, who work (either permanently or temporarily) outside the usual professional practices, to shape their own dramatic reflection on the contents and reasons of their work.
Designs are called to face the issues of human culture, of history, death, life and sacredness.
Independent. Design secession revisits the design and roots it in the individual, private, subjective sphere. It offers no certainties, it raises new problems and becomes intensely dramatic as a reflection of the complexity of our contemporariness, in which the crisis is the only feasible prerequisite for growth.
