“Hybrid and Flexible”. The topic is ambitious, fascinating, intriguing and inasmuch ideal for varied design interpretations and specific company skills. Make not only the material as such flexible and ductile but also the idea and design approach by adapting and leading technology towards new challenges.

The intention of this project is to merge materials, production processes, aesthetics, blend the mutability and metamorphosis of forms and styles and embrace the transformation of cultural and creative processes. Such crossways approaches are acknowledged here as true moments in development, where design achieves a new synthesis between mechanical processes, technology, languages and attitudes. The theme of flexibility also intersects with the topic of sustainability as a warranty for better investment of resources. Predispositions for technological and innovative solutions help reduce overheads in transformation work.

Marmomacc – the International Natural Stone, Design and Technology Exhibition promoted by VeronaFiere this year celebrating its 45th edition – presents this project coordinated by Evelina Bazzo that aims to become an annual appointment focusing on stone materials and design. For its third edition in 2009, Marmomacc Meets Design precisely decided to investigate the hybrid theme by inviting designers and companies well-known on an international scale to highlight the performance of marble in experimental applications.
